SAFEGUARDING & WELFARE
Safeguarding & Welfare
At Twilight Productions Performing Arts Company, the safety, wellbeing, and protection of every young person in our care is our highest priority. We are fully committed to creating a secure, inclusive, and supportive environment where all participants can thrive both creatively and personally.
Our Commitment
We adhere to robust safeguarding practices and ensure that all staff, volunteers, and creative team members understand their responsibility to protect children and young people from harm. Safeguarding is embedded in every aspect of our work, from rehearsals to performances.
Training & Certification
Senior team members working directly with young people are DBS checked (Disclosure and Barring Service).
Staff are safeguarding trained, with up-to-date knowledge of child protection procedures and best practices.
We have qualified First Aid trained personnel present at all sessions, rehearsals, and performances.
We hold relevant North Yorkshire County Council (NYCC) Chaperone Licences, ensuring children in performance are properly supervised in line with legal requirements.
We work in line with guidance from North Yorkshire County Council, obtaining a Body of Persons (BOPA) required for performance purposes, supporting best practice in safeguarding and the protection of children in performance.
Safe Working Practices
Clear safeguarding policies and procedures are in place and regularly reviewed.
Appropriate staff-to-student ratios are maintained at all times.
Risk assessments are conducted for all activities, rehearsals, and events.
We promote a culture where young people feel safe, heard, and respected.
Designated Safeguarding Lead
We have a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) who is responsible for overseeing all safeguarding matters, ensuring concerns are handled appropriately, and liaising with relevant authorities where necessary.
